Our Story

Robert McCloud, Founder of the McCloud Cares Foundation, witnessed the power of actualizing dreams when his mother moved his family from the projects of New Kensington, PA to the more affluent Arnold, PA. Relocating gave Robert and his siblings access to new educational opportunities that propelled them onto a path toward success. It also introduced him to multi-cultural business leaders that inspired Robert to envision a future unlike anything he imagined prior to his mother’s decision to change zip codes. Thus, planting the seed to create imaginative and inspirational experiences for the less fortunate later in his life.

Influenced by his mother’s foresight and resiliency, Robert created the Maddie Award in 2007 to recognize single mothers striving to provide better lives for their children despite the hardships they faced. The award sought to alleviate the pressure the holidays presented to single mothers by donating gifts to recipients and their families each holiday season.

The initiative quickly illuminated a need within the community that was greater than what Robert could provide alone. This revelation gave birth to the McCloud Cares Foundation and our signature program, Miracles in December, to promote the gift of giving by engaging community members, corporate partners, and social change agents to give children and families throughout the Tri-State area the holiday experience of their dreams.

The help our family received from the McCloud Cares Foundation was a blessing at a time when I couldn’t give my kids everything they wanted during the holidays…
